Double tap
Assign one app and open it or bring it forward instantly.
TapLaunch for macOS
Open your favorite Mac apps with a gentle double or triple tap. TapLaunch is small, private, local, and built for supported Apple Silicon MacBooks.
No microphone. No camera. No account. No analytics.
Simple by design
TapLaunch runs quietly on your Mac and listens for gentle MacBook motion taps using the built-in sensor path available on supported Apple Silicon MacBooks.
The first version is intentionally focused: double tap opens one app, triple tap opens another. Nothing extra, nothing noisy.
What it does
Assign one app and open it or bring it forward instantly.
Set a second app for the other tool you use all day.
Settings and tap detection stay local on your Mac.
Tap test
The tap test view gives instant feedback while you tune sensitivity. Gentle taps become clean local events, so you know the gesture is ready before assigning it to your workflow.
How it works
Choose an app for double tap.
Choose an app for triple tap.
Use a gentle double or triple tap on your MacBook.
TapLaunch opens the selected app or brings it to the front.
Private by default
TapLaunch does not use your microphone, camera, keyboard input, or trackpad clicks. It does not send motion data to a server.
Compatibility
Apple Silicon MacBook Air, Apple Silicon MacBook Pro, macOS 14 or newer.
Intel Macs, Mac mini, Mac Studio, iMac, external keyboards, and external trackpads.
Local helper
macOS does not provide a simple public tap sensor API for MacBooks. TapLaunch uses a small local helper to access supported motion sensor reports reliably in the background.
The helper reads local motion data and sends clean tap events back to TapLaunch. It does not open apps directly, run scripts, or connect to the internet.
